At a time when the Hindi film industry seems to be going through a tough time with several big budget releases not doing well, actor Alia Bhatt has delivered a hit with Gangubai Kathiawadi. The theatrical success of this film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in which 29-year-old Alia played the lead role, cemented her position as one of the most accomplished actresses in contemporary Indian cinema.

Daughter of director-producer Mahesh Bhatt and actor Soni Razdan, Alia makes her producer debut with Darlings, which hits Netflix on August 5.
Alongside Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan, she will also star in Hollywood thriller Heart of Stone, directed by British filmmaker Tom Harper, while her highly anticipated superhero film Brahmastra Part One: Shiva is scheduled for September.
Alia made her debut with Student of the Year directed by Karan Johar (2012) and has since proven her versatility with a host of blockbuster films. She delivered powerful performances in Highway (2014), Udta Punjab (2016), Raazi (2018) and Gully Boy (2019), combining critical acclaim with mass entertainment in films such as 2 States (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).
Following her April wedding to Ranbir Kapoor and the announcement of her pregnancy, she entered a new phase in her personal and professional life. Ambitious and hardworking, the talented actor also has several big projects in the works.
