CCP offers grants for animation, games, comics
THE CULTURAL Center of the Philippines (CCP) is launching the CCP Grants, with development funding of 20 million pesos to generate original intellectual property (IP) content that reflects the country’s rich cultural heritage with its folktales, myths and its legends. This program hopes to stimulate the local creative economy by providing financial, technical and educational support to local creative businesses, content developers, artists and students. Filipino content creators can submit their ideas in one of three categories: Game Development Grant, Animation Grant, and Comic Book Grant. For the game development grant, up to four game development organizations recognized by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will receive funding of up to 1.5 million pesos each, and up to 300,000 pesos each to developers of independent games to create and complete a digital game project with a mixture of creative, cultural and commercial results, and content derived from the PCC Encyclopedia of Philippine Art. The Comics Grant offers P330,000 for a potential six winners; while the Animation Grant has funding of 2 million pesos each for four potential winners to bring five-minute animated shorts to life. The production of animation and comics should be developed around the theme “Filipino Folktales, Myths and Legends”. In addition, a training component with industry professionals will be integrated for the winners. The CCP grant program is supported by the Creative Content Creators Association of the Philippines, Game Developers Association of the Philippines, Animation Council of the Philippines, and KOMIKET. Star Cinema Movies Coming to GMA Soon
ABS-CBN will license titles from the Star Cinema Movie Library to GMA Network. This development was announced during a virtual event on April 5 attended by executives from both networks. “For us, we are very pleased because the importance of our partnership today opens up the possibility of a much broader set of conversations, potential partnerships and cooperation that will not only mutually benefit GMA and ABS-CBN, but equally, if not perhaps more importantly, for the benefit of the audience we both serve – the Filipino viewer,” President and Chief Operating Officer of GMA Network Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. said. “Since we have, as they say, broken the ice, there is great optimism that these conversations will begin and continue, and we look forward to the possibility of this type of opportunity moving forward.” he declared. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo L. Katigbak said he hopes to bring Star Cinema movies to more viewers through the partnership. “The dream of any storyteller is to introduce as many people as possible to his creations. BAFTA-winning filmmaker hosts online workshop
Award-winning British filmmaker, writer and director Craig Lines will share his experience in a comprehensive online certificate program in filmmaking for content creators, scheduled for select Fridays in April and May. Mr. Lines will guide participants based on the following: What do you want to achieve or promote? What is the subject? What is the target market? Also an introduction to filmmaking, students will be immersed in the language of the camera, its background and various genres, and how its tools and techniques can be used to conceptualize and create entertaining, informative videos and materials. and educational. The module will provide participants with an understanding of the entire content creation process, from writing the script from scratch, preparing workflow and equipment to post-production shooting and editing. .
