Jakarta (ANTARA) – The national entertainment sector has started to recover and return to normal following an improvement in the COVID-19 situation in Indonesia, an official from the Ministry of Education, Culture, of Research and Technology.
“We have to admit that even though the COVID-19 pandemic is not completely over, we have seen that all aspects of the domestic entertainment industry have started to recover,” said Ahmad, Director of Film, Music and media at the general directorate of culture of the ministry. Mahendra, said.
His statement was read by the coordinator of the Directorate General’s Working Group for Film Appreciation and Literacy, Edy Suwardi, during the “Post-COVID-19 Changes on the Indonesian Film Trends” webinar on Friday.
The manager said some musicians, such as popular pop music group Kahitna and solo singer Budi Do Re Mi, participated in musical concerts held in indoor spaces and attended by thousands of spectators.
“We saw that live and indoor music concerts began to be organized, with attendance reaching hundreds, even thousands of spectators. Thank goodness, (these events) were organized safely and smoothly “, he noted.

He then stressed that health protocols must continue to be respected during musical concerts which attract huge crowds.
Apart from the music sector, the director also pointed out that the increasing number of visitors to public cinemas during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period indicated the revival of the cinema sector.
“Some films screened as special films for Eid al-Fitr have attracted many viewers to return to cinemas, and (theater visitors) are even increasing,” Mahendra remarked.
The director went on to express hope that residents who are now confident enough to enjoy movies in theaters will motivate Indonesian filmmakers to get back to work.
