Report: UK home entertainment sector to top £5bn by 2025

The UK home entertainment sector continues to grow with a new report suggesting it will be worth £5.5billion by 2025.

Home Entertainment Evolution Report of the British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE) and DEGI: The Digital Entertainment Group International, states that with the addition of Box Office and Pay-TV, the market is expected to reach £12 billion by 2025, representing 5% of the global market.

The home is now more central to family entertainment consumption than ever before, the report says, with several million consumers accessing content through physical media (discs), digital services and smart home TVs or other connected devices. .

Category definitions will continue to evolve, he predicts, as technology and business models evolve, with SVoD growing and adapting in the UK, as major players introduce levels of ad-supported subscription. AVoD and FAST channels will take a greater share of consumer engagement, the report suggests.
