The stall took viewers on quite a journey following the story of Elizabeth Holmes from the perspective of Amanda Seyfried’s portrayal.

In the series’ latest episode, “Heroes,” the Theranos founder’s house of cards began to crumble as the the wall street journal began airing its dirty laundry of cover-ups and more behind the corporate scenes. And with only one episode left, there’s only one place to go from here and that’s down.

“Yeah. I mean, that’s the downfall,” showrunner Liz Meriwether teases about the episode. As for what viewers can expect from the episode, Meriwether adds, “it’s the end of her relationship with Sunny (Naveen Andrews), Billy Evans – who is her new partner and the father of her child – is in.”

Not much else can be said, as Meriwether saves a few shreds of mystery for viewers, but she adds that she hopes they “like her.” And it’s hard not to be intrigued, even with prior knowledge of Elizabeth’s misdeeds, this riveting dramatization is more engrossing with each passing episode.

The show followed Elizabeth’s beginnings as a young student eager to make a difference and followed her as she grew into a powerful business leader determined to keep her darkest secrets a mystery. It’s a transformation that is acknowledged by Laurie Metcalf’s Dr. Phyllis Gardner in the penultimate episode as she comes face to face with Holmes at an event.

Gardner confronts Elizabeth and notes how her decisions impact all women in science and knowing what they are doing to Elizabeth’s practices, Gardner accuses Elizabeth of damaging the reputation of women in the field. “She was marketing this idea of herself as a breakthrough female CEO,” Meriwether says of the Theranos founder’s view of herself.

“But I’m also telling the story of Phyllis Gardner and Erika Cheung (Camryn Mi-young Kim), who are two different women in science who have completely different backgrounds,” Meriwether says, adding, “I think it was important to me that I juxtapose the version of showing up as a woman with what it was like for other women who were really digging and doing the work and what their experiences were.

See how their experiences differ as The stall releases its final episode on Hulu in April.
